Hello, and thank you for visiting my page and coming to read my final part in my project, God’s Not Dead: Proof of a Personal Creator - Part 3 - The Word. In parts 1 and 2, I examined the creation and state of our universe, and prayer, using the Word as reference points as well. Now, in this final part, I want to address our Father directly, and the Word directly, and how it all stacks up and comes together. My goal will always be to write to lead people to Christ. I feel a non-believer would have a hard time denying the Word in regards to the universe, denying the Word in regards to prayer, and denying the Word on how it discusses our Father God.
Let’s begin with taking a look at The Epistle of Paul, The Apostle to the Romans, specifically Romans 1:20-24 For since the creation of the world his invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse, because although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened, Professing to be wise, they became fools, and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible man - and birds and four footed animals and creeping things. Therefore God also gave them up to uncleanness, in the lusts of their hearts, to dishonor their bodies among themselves.
A powerful passage indeed! The Bible teaches us here that people have a general knowledge of God, but often suppress this information because they would rather live in the pleasures of sin and serve their own flesh, and serve idols instead of God. This is evidence of spiritual corruption, likely from a preexisting desire to avoid God who has revealed Himself to us already. Think back to Genesis - the first trick the devil pulled was to get us to go against God’s Word and Truth. It correlates here as well - it is a battle with our flesh every day to seek God continuously, and we can feel it in our spirit.
Speaking of Genesis, the entire creation story tells of a personal Creator, who existed outside of the universe, starting with one simple verse, Genesis 1 IN the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. God began to speak things into existence, such as Genesis 1:3 Then God said, “Let there be light”: and there was light. He then made man, as we see in Genesis 1:26 Then God said, “Let us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness…. If you never have, I urge you to read all of Genesis from start to finish - it specifically tells of God creating the universe and humanity. The universe could not speak itself into existence, nor could it have a conversation with itself to create the human race.
Going deeper into the Word, specifically what Jesus had to say, we can learn many things about God. Jesus was very precise with His words when speaking of God. He told us God is a person, is knowledgeable, can talk, has a will of His own, and dwells in Heaven. Let’s take a look at some of what the Word says about personal attributes of our Father God:
God is knowledgeable:
Matthew 24:36 “But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, but My Father only.”
Matthew 6:7-8 “And when you pray, do not use vain repetitions as the heathen do. For they think that they will be heard for their many words. Therefore do not be like them. For your Father knows the things you have need of before you ask Him.”
Jesus refers to God as a person:
John 8:16-18 “And yet if I do judge, My judgment is true, for I am not alone but I am with the Father who sent Me. It is also written in your law that the testimony of two men is true. I am One who bears witness of Myself, and the Father who sent Me bears witness of Me.”
God can talk:
Genesis 1:11 Then God said, “Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb that yields seed, and the fruit tree that yields fruit…..”
Matthew 3:17 And suddenly a voice came from heaven, saying, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”
God has a will of His own:
1 Thessalonians 5:18 in everything give thanks, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
John 6:40 “And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him may have everlasting life, and I will raise him up at the last day.”
Matthew 18:19 “Again I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven.”
God dwells in Heaven:
Matthew 18:14 “Even so it is not the will of your Father who is in heaven that one of these little ones should perish.”
Deuteronomy 26:15 Look down from Your holy habitation, from heaven, and bless Your people Israel…..
Revelation 13:6 Then he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme His name, His tabernacle, and those who dwell in heaven.
My final piece of evidence to present to you is, very simply, looking at what is right in front of us. We have the Bible, and in its entirety it tells of our Father God, His Son, and the Holy Spirit, and much more. There are about 6,000 Greek recounted manuscripts, 10,000 Latin, and nearly another 10,000 in various other languages - and in reference to Jesus, the earliest of these are dated as young as 20AD. In comparison, other secular religions such as Buddhism, have a record as young as 400 years after the death of said “Buddha”. That is a long time to pass for writing about someone, and in contrast a short, realistic time for Jesus, as we can almost surely assume any record younger than 20AD likely was lost or withered away over time, or perhaps destroyed unknowingly. Also, even Jesus’ enemies recounted the same historical texts! So, wouldn’t you think, if anyone at all wanted to say that God didn’t exist, and that Jesus didn’t exist, wouldn’t it be His enemies, the ones who persecuted Him the most? I do not feel that anyone can consider all of this, and still not believe in God or Jesus. Would they say that ALL those records, from friends and enemies of Christ, are just some big, generational, 2000+ year long running fabricated joke?
I hope I have presented a clear idea, and hopefully, through it all, turned some heads towards Jesus Christ. Thank you for visiting my page and reading the final part of this project. Keep your eyes on Jesus Christ. We cannot deny His existence. And we know God created Him, and declared Him as His Son in whom He is well pleased. Jesus alone is enough for all of us, and the only way.
